Kita menggunakan so + that sebagai konjungsi untuk memperkenalkan klausa alasan dan penjelasan:

(Alasan:) He has so varied interests (penjelasannya:) that one never knows what he will do next.

(Alasan:) Yesterday i walked so far (penjelasannya:) that i fell asleep immediately after supper.

(Alasan:) I had a good time at the party (penjelasannya) so i did not want to leave.

(Alasan:) He had so many books (penjelasannya:) that his walls were lined with bookcases.

Sedangkan too…to artinya (terlalu…untuk…) Dipakai untuk menyatakan bahwa sesuatu itu lebih dari kecukupan. Too dipakai sebelum adjective atau adverb + to - infinitive. Contohnya:

The boys were too excited to sit still. (Anak-anak lelaki itu terlalu bersemangat untuk duduk diam.)

The snow was too deep for us to walk across the field. (Salju terlalu dalam untuk kami berjalan melintasi lapangan.)

The street was too busy for me to cross. (Jalanan terlalu ramai untuk saya lewati.) dalam bentuk past.

The street is too busy for me to cross. (Jalan itu terlalu ramai buatku untuk menyeberang.) dalam bentuk present.

The box is too heavy to lift. (Boks itu terlalu berat buat diangkat.)
